In Canada, we are lucky enough to have a system in place that is for the most part, publicly funded. This means that Canadian tax dollars are turned into social programs that benefit most Canadians. Some of these programs include;
These programs are directly related to the amount of taxes that Canadians pay, be it income tax, the government sales tax, and/or if your province has sales tax. Recently, there is a controversy brewing within the Canadian public. Political parties such as the Conservatives would like to lower taxes and have the costs transferred to Canadians by privatizing programs like Healthcare. Many Canadians agree with the Conservatives and Canada is now facing the real possibility of long standing social programs to private ownership.
